Renshinkan was established 50 years ago in Kagoshima by the late founder Isamu Tamotsu (sublimed to Tenryu in 2000) for the purpose of creating genuine Karate-Do. Through the strong will and continuous efforts by our predecessors, a sterile wasteland has been fertilized. By planting trees one by one, the forest of Renshinkan has been formed. Today Renshinkan has expanded all over Japan, and has spread worldwide. Every step forwards that Renshinkan takes breathes new life into Karate’s society in Japan Renshinkan has evolved: front Karate-jyutsu to Karate-do and from Kakutou-jyutsu to Karate-do. Jyutsu focuses on learning techniques, whereas Do focus mainly on building our characters as well as techniques. This noble way of thinking of Renshinkan has attracted many people. Now Renshinkan is taught to the new generation in 12 countries as well as in every corner in Japan.
“Planted trees help you in the future”. Constructing a good environment for the prosperity of future generations must be a mission of the people who are living “now”. If we have an egotistic way of thinking, such as “only me” or “only my country”, we can never keep the globe the common property of human beings. Any thought of the neglecting new life will never be acceptable.
Everyone from foreign countries- Today you come here over the oceans with a great hope in your mind. We are gathering together here as proud members of each nation and race. We must remember that our neighbors also have these same hopes and pride, that everyone’s life is irreplaceable, that we all have precious futures and that all of our families are respectable. My wish for each of you is to believe in your great potential and to grow forward into tomorrow full of hope. “Life is woven by clothes of dreams”. As human beings who live in the same global home, we can overcome language, religion, and politics. I wish you all the common “dream of the family” which is a realization of peace in our world.
“Rust comes from iron and ruins the iron” Shakuson (Gautama Siddhaartha) said. We must not allow a situation where we “ruin ourselves by ourselves”. Please always keep up training and improve yourself continuously.
“Harmony is generated in everyone’s heart”. That must be the first step of Renshinkan’s new era. We have just experienced 50 years of brilliant history, and look forward to what will come in our future.
